The Programmes

For directors who wish to gain a recognised professional qualification there are two development options, the Certificate or Diploma in Company Direction.

Alternatively, for directors who wish to broaden their knowledge and understanding rather than acquire a qualification, all of the courses which make up the programmes can be attended individually.

The Certificate in Company Direction

The Certificate in Company Direction covers the core issues faced by every director. These include:

• An in-depth view of the role, responsibilities and legal duties of a director
• An understanding of the characteristics of an effective board
• Sound knowledge of financial terms and concepts
• The issues and processes associated with formulating strategic and business plans and achieving strategic leadership.

The Diploma in Company Direction

The Diploma in Company Direction builds on the certificate to cover functional areas which directors may not have had responsibility for within previous positions. The additional areas covered include:

• Understanding marketing and human resource strategy and how they interact with the corporate strategy
• Structuring the organisation for future success based on the business objectives.

Successful completion of the diploma examination is also one of the criteria in achieving Chartered Director status, the professional qualification which recognises the professionalism and experience of directors.
